Ivor
"Play it again, Ivor...."

Ivor Pickard is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and 5-string banjo player.
Originally from the South East of the country (the UK) and having obtained a guitar at the age of 16, he began his journey into performance at The Black Horse Folk Club, Telham, Battle (near Hastings, East Sussex) in the late 1960s. He soon moved to Brighton where he encountered a thriving Folk Scene, becoming a regular performer at several clubs and a resident at The Stanford Arms Folk Club (Preston Circus, Brighton) supporting such acts as John Renbourn and Mike Seeger.
In 1976 he spent several months in (West) Germany, based in Nuremberg (Bavaria), where he established enough contacts to enable return visits to musical venues over the next 11 years. During this period he was based in Hastings, East Sussex and was a resident at The Black Horse Folk Club, Telham, Battle as well as performing in pubs, clubs, on local radio and at festivals.
After a move to Lincolnshire in 1987, Ivor only played in public sporadically until 2011 when he began attending the Louth Folk Club where he is now a regular performer. He has appeared at the Day of Lincolnshire Folk (2017, 2018, 2019 & 2022).
Other performances include the Saturday Morning session in the Lincoln Drill Hall Café Bar, Lincoln; Allegro Appassionato (Wednesday Lunchtime Recital), Louth Library; and the Grimsby Folk Club’s Spotlight Nights at the Spider’s Web, Grimsby.
He has also appeared on Radio Lincolnshire’s Folk on Thursday programme (January 2019) and Lincoln City Radio FM 103.6's Lincolnshire Folk with Tom Lane (September 2021).
Ivor can provide an evening (or any other part of the day!) performance, usually consisting of two forty-five minute sets (one and one half hours in total), using a variety of musical genres but all coming under the embrace of ‘Folk Music’. From Delta blues to self-penned and contemporary songs, from Celtic tunes to Ragtime country blues and Old Time mountain music to traditional songs and tunes, all accompanied on either the six string guitar or the five string banjo.
Ivor can provide his own PA system if required.
